Original watercolours

Several of my original watercolours are available for sale. All are signed on the front. Prints are authenticated and numbered on the back, titled and signed on the mount. It is important to remember that all artwork is covered by the laws relating to copyright and may not be reproduced without the consent of the artist.

Original watercolours possess a unique subtlety not found in any other medium. This makes them intensely satisfying and a source of endless pleasure. The golden rule when buying any artwork is to buy what pleases you. If the value appreciates then this should be regarded as a bonus. There is no question that originals will offer the best potential for increasing value, although there is nowadays an excellent and flourishing market for prints too.

Unlike oil paintings, watercolours are sensitive to light and, if displayed in full sunlight, will eventually start to fade and lose their colour. For this reason it is essential that they be hung or displayed out of direct sunlight.  Likewise, moisture and watercolour do not go together. Do not contemplate hanging one in the bathroom, for example!

The range of originals that I have for sale changes all the time. In the gallery on my prints page, I have marked with a red dot the originals which have already been sold. If you are interested in buying any of the others, please contact me for details of what is currently available.

As well as these originals, I also undertake commissions.  If, for example, you would like an original watercolour painting of a favourite house, I can work from photographs. Please contact me for more information.

The medieval walled city of Carcassonne is a local tourist attraction, and wonderful to paint.
